More than 70% of children without parental care grow up in orphanages or foster families because of their ethnic origin , age or a developmental disorder.
Project Goal: to advocate for the rights of children without parental care to family life and position ADOPTA as resource in policy development related to children.
Target group: Children without familycare, particularly Roma, over 6 yeas of age, children with developmental or health related difficulty.
Outcomes:
1. Advocacy campaign on rights of children on family life and a need for a systematicchange to improve adoption of „difficult to adopt“ children,
2. Strengthening and positioning ADOPTA as a resource in development and monitoring of public policies on children.
Expected results:
- identified obstacles to adoption of „difficult to adopt children“
- mapping of available support services
- Parliamentary Committee on families, Youth and sports creates recommendations on systematic improvement of adoption
- Action plan/reccomendations for supporting adoption of difficult to adopt children developed through multi-stakeholder cooperation,
- ADOPTA increaces competencies for advocacy.

Research – Obstacles to adopting difficult to place children
Adopta carried out the research among prospective adopters to find out what prevents them from adopting children form the following categories: older children, children with multiple siblings, Roma children and children with developmental and/or health difficulties.
The purpose of the research was to identify changes in policies, services and attitudes that would increase chances for children in care to find families.
Info MAP – services for adoption community
ADOPTA's info MAP is a resource for the adoptive community, which allows searching available services for prospective adopters, adoptive parents and adopted children and youth. It was created through collection of information of the existing services and will be continuously updated with new information. You can find info MAP here.
Capacity building
Adopta started a process of strategic planning for a period 2016-2020. The process started in 2015 with the developing SWOT analysis and internal plans and is continuing in 2016 with strategic planning workshops, which include Adopta's staff, Board members and volunteers.
Advocacy
- ·International Watchdog Forum, Warsaw 2015 – Diana Topčić-Rosenberg presented ADOPT's model of influencing public policy to participants of the International Watchdog Forum.

- International Adoption Day- ADOPTA took part in a global movement of promoting adoption through a FB campaign „ post a smile for adoption“ and cooperating with the theatre Smješko in an award winning performance „ My family and one hedgehog“.
